Importance[edit]

Why is this low importance when E3 and the Tokyo Games Show are both high? Doesn't seem right. Wheatleya (talk) 16:05, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

First, The attendance numbers are inflated for Gamescom/GC and TGS because they allow public attendance when compared to E3 (industry- and press-only). Both E3 and TGS are significant because they are old (15+ years running), compared to GC/Gamescom (only from 2002+). Gamescom replaced the defunct GC. Furthermore, because of this, the time of year they are held, and the public nature of GC/Gamescom, game companies will develop with a target date for the initial announce/reveal at E3 and then spend the next couple of months developing more public-oriented content for show at Gamescom. TGS is important because it is where the original "Big 3" console developers conduct their reveals (Nintendo, Sega, Sony) for the JDM. Cowbert (talk) 15:27, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notable as in with an article? So then we can delete any that dont have an article with it? Like Crossfire from 2010 games con? Moreover why is there a notability guideline for gamescon, does it mean that thousands of new games are being exhibited, thus we have to like filter out that mass of non-notable video games and only list ones that have an article with it. I think limiting the gamescom article to notable exhibitors is fine, but I think you also can create Wikipedia:Summary style list articles: List of gamescom 2009 exhibitors, List of gamescom 2010 exhibitors, List of gamescom 2011 exhibitors, and List of gamescom 2012 exhibitors. This will allow for situations, such as computer game Mir-Mahna (which I just added info to), where the exhibitor isn't notable but the computer game is or where an exhibitor or game is notable, but we have yet to write an article on it. -- Uzma Gamal (talk) 11:34, 5 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The name[edit]

This article is called "gamescom" with a small "g" and the same goes for the start of the article. That doesn't live up to Wikipedia's standards. The article should be renamed Gamescom and the beginning of the article should say something along the lines of "Gamescom (stylized as gamescom)". It is grammatically incorrect to start a sentence with a small letter, and likewise Wikipedia articles start with a capital letter.--LonelyGreyWolf (talk) 22:09, 20 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Gamescom → Gamescom – due to stylisation of the topic, the article name should not be capitalised, per Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Article_titles cases like this and eBay, iPhone, etc. should have capitalisation according to how they are stylised.
