Copyright[edit]

I emailed Animal Diversity Web to confirm if we indeed could use this text in our article. This was their response.

Dear BrokenSegue,

There is no authorization to re-upload materials from ADW to Wikipedia. Any use of materials is subject to copyright laws. You will need to contact the director of ADW, Phil Myers, at pmyer@umich.edu about permission of use.

Hello, When a student gives us permission to publish their written work on the Animal Diversity web, they sign a copyright release form - assigning their copyright to the University of Michigan. They are not authorized to re-release that written material, which would constitute a copyright infringement. The text of the copyright release follows: "LETTER OF ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND ASSIGNMENT FROM CLASS PARTICIPANT

I understand and acknowledge that as a result of my access to the Animal Diversity web site in the <name of class here> class in which I am participating, I may be preparing written documents, computer programs, drawings and/or other textual and printed materials (collectively, "Materials") for inclusion in the web site. I also understand that it is not a requirement of the course that I prepare such materials.

By signing this document, I hereby assign any rights I may have to the Materials, including copyrights, to the Regents of the University of Michigan (the "University"). The University will be the owner of all rights in the Materials.

I acknowledge that I will receive no compensation for this assignment and no share of any royalty or other payments made to the University, whether from the use, distribution, assignment, license, or otherwise resulting from the Materials."

Our records indicate that Sheri Sanders released her copyright to ADW on 4/12/2005. We invest significant technological and editorial resources in accounts appearing on the ADW and cannot afford to have them freely re-distributed elsewhere. Please take down the gemsbok text taken from the Animal Diversity Web page. Many thanks,

- the Animal Diversity Web Zookeepers

As such, I deleted all edits in the history which included the copyvio text. Please be careful about asserting your rights over text. Even if you wrote it, you might not own it. Broken S 00:19, 5 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

More Info Needed[edit]

What is their range? Are you including the East African oryx as the "northern" variant?

Mention the New Mexico introduced population as well.

See the Oryx article for some info.

Gemsbok[edit]

Gemsboks are animals that you can unlock and purchase on Zoo Tycoon DS, they belong to the desert Africa environment and like the quiver tree. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.233.125.124 (talk) 00:21, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

More Natural Photo[edit]

It would be better to have a photo of Gemsbok in a more natural pose, as these Gemsbok are looking at the camera, or at humans holding a camera. Lopifalko (talk) 08:27, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
