Add information[edit]

I suggest adding a section on education:

Misrepresentation of research findings[edit]

"Men are also more likely than women to be aggressive" whereas the reference says..

"Results confirmed prior findings of gender differences (favoring boys) in direct aggression and trivial gender differences in indirect aggression"

Thus "Men are also more likely than women be directly aggressive, but not more indirectly agressive" would be correct here. Wallby (talk) 10:54, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Gender disparities in health[edit]

This article doesn't mention gender disparities in health; is this not a form of gender inequality? Jarble (talk) 17:56, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal into Sexism[edit]

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
There is some difference, for further discussion but not merging at this point. HudecEmil (talk) 08:03, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Same meaning: one is currently described as "prejudice or discrimination based on one's sex or gender", other is described as "social phenomenon in which people are not treated equally on the basis of gender". Considering everything here is social phenomenon: it's the same, proposing to merge. HudecEmil (talk) 16:49, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose There is a subtle difference here: Sexism is prejudice or discrimination, and gender inequality is a manifestation of sexism. Alone these two are almost the same, but one can be sexist but not "gender inequality-ist". Not all gender inequality is caused by sexism. Some is caused by gender roles, which is not immediately sexism (but can be), such as women having children and not going to work, causing a gender inequality of income. —Panamitsu (talk) 23:36, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Manifestation is vague. Do you have a reference for this?
I seems to me the two terms have a history of equivalence in popular usage and older parts of literature. Though, this aspect could be added to the article without merging them. HudecEmil (talk) 22:06, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
They are quite similar indeed. The lead of this article reads This inequality can be caused by gender discrimination or sexism. 📊Panamitsu (talk) 22:10, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose Basically reluctant to support any hurried action.
  • What I would suggest rather than continuing merge notice sans discussion invitations to WP women projects boards open a article scope discussion with more participants from WP women projects.
  • HudecEmil and Panamitsu can present their ideal drafts for community consideration in such discussion the better, I suggest. Bookku (talk) 05:41, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
