Fruit stand[edit]

What? No commentary on Gene? He and Rodger listed movie cliches. One was 'the car chase that always ends up with a car crashing into a fruit stand'. A few years later, a movie was produced that had a 'car chase that ended with a car crashing into a fruit stand'. If you look closely at the scene, there is a sign above the stand "Gene and Rodger's Fruit Stand'. They ran this clip on their show. RIP Gene...we'll all be joining you in that great-balcony-in-the-sky, eventually. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.67.104.4 (talk) 17:40, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Holy Mary--I can't believe I remember this. I don't remember the name of the movie with "Gene & Roger's Fruit Stand," but I do remember the movie was a terrible comedy. After Mr. Siskel ripped the film, Mr. Ebert mentioned the fruit stand gag. Mr. Siskel acknowledged that he "kind of smiled" when he saw that, but insisted that was the only time. Court martial?[edit]

Re: trivia section. Why did Gene once testify at a court martial? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cwoodw1 (talkcontribs) 15:30, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, that piqued my interest, too. He mentions it rather casually on the video that is cited and doesn't give any details. It'd be interesting to elaborate on if someone knows more details. It doesn't say in the article whether he ever served in the military, either. --YellowTapedR 21:09, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Films[edit]

Also in the trivia section there are two bullets that contradict each other: the first says his favorite movie is Saturday Night Fever while the next bullet says his favorite movie is Dr. Stranglove. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.238.13.175 (talk) 21:08, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, he did not review Simply Irresistible. Go look at the archives and correct that one. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.49.19.24 (talk) 22:44, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Quotations of Siskel[edit]

I have to agree with the above nerds. This note doesn't give the flavor, the spirt of what it was like watching Gene Siskel tear into a movie. So, I would propose a section of great quotes. Unfortunately, I only know of one: "There is a point when a personal opinion shades off into an error of fact. When you say 'The Valachi Papers' is a better film than 'The Godfather,' you are wrong." Bill Abendroth (talk) 22:07, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Relationship with Ebert[edit]

It seems odd & inaccurate to characterize the Siskel-Ebert relationship as "tumultuous" and one of "love/hate." This piece would seem to refute that notion quite clearly: http://www.esquire.com/features/roger-ebert-0310-6 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.118.210.148 (talk) 15:46, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
