"Kyrgyzstan is about the same size as the state of Nebraska"[edit]

Rubbish like "Kyrgyzstan is about the same size as the state of Nebraska" has no place in an encyclopedia. In fact it reminds me of the garbage that is written on the CIA world factbook pages. The article states the size of the country (198,500 km2) and that is enough. Let's not assume that readers of Wikipedia articles are as stupid as the typical tabloid newspaper reader. We don't need everything compared in size to US states and it is not necessary to refer to world cities like London, Madrid and Brussels as London, England; Madrid, Spain and Brussels, Belgium.--Xania ^talk 23:49, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The main article on Kyrgyzstan says that 80% of the country is covered by mountains but this page hardly mentions them! This needs to be fixed. Dricherby (talk) 01:32, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Update[edit]

Can we update Kyrgyzstan's response to the Sustainable development goals (after September 25, 2015)? Can we discuss renewable energy production in Kyrgyzstan and the nation's response to the economic, population level, and humane costs of climate disruption? Their nation is mountainous, and their glaciers could shrink by 45%. Water remains an important development issue (requiring rationing?), and hydro development is important for them in a renewable energy economy. Kyrgyzstan is one of Germany’s partner countries in the context of its international cooperation. GIZ has been implementing projects in this former Soviet republic, mainly on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), since the early 1990s. Other parties that commission GIZ to carry out projects in Kyrgyzstan include the German Federal Foreign Office (AA), the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI), and the European Union.
