out of context quote[edit]

The quote about "palliative care ward tourism" is extremely out of context; that was not a criticism of the music at all, but of the _staging_ of one of Haas' operas; it was mostly directed at the set design chosen for a death bed scene. I will remove it if I have time to find something that discusses Haas' music. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.113.166.146 (talk) 04:32, 24 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Chosen plot musically relevant[edit]

Shirley Apthorp's phrase does not refer merely to the staging, which in this case was just in line with authorial intentions as laid down in the work anyway; rather it refers to the choice of plot the composer made, which in turn matches a certain type of music. Spectral music thrives on certain emotional atmospheres, while it fails entirely with others -- this marks its limits of expression. Talking of "Aesthetics", that's precisely what we want to know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.170.112.200 (talk) 13:01, 18 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Relevance of details of his sexual life[edit]

“ Haas is the dominant partner in a BDSM relationship with his wife, the American writer, BDSM educator, and actor Mollena Williams-Haas.”

Are the sexual life of a person, famous for his music, really relevant in an encyclopaedic article? Esterband (talk) 19:40, 5 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I would say only if it is an important enough part of the composer's life or has been the subject of major discussion. (cf. Tchaikovsky or Kaikhosru Sorabji and tell me what you think) Wilh3lmGo here to trout me if I do a stupid 23:38, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
