Tony Hancock impression[edit]

And who can forget Hancock's disastrous impression of Arliss at 'Hancock at the Royal Festival Hall' 1966. Without Galton and Simpson he had evidently fallen back on his variety routines of the late 1940's. Most of Hancock's fan base were wartime and post war baby boomers - there was desultory laughter petering out to puzzled clapping - they had never heard of George Arliss.
