Requested move[edit]

I have requested that this article be moved to George Berkley, which is currently a redirect to George Berkeley, the philosopher. I have left a note at George Berkeley's talk page to this effect and there have been no objections thus far (it has been there for a couple of days and the only reply has been positive). This article belongs at George Berkley as he is the only man with that name with an article, to cope with any misspellings of the philosopher there is a hatnote that points to that page. The redirect George Berkley currently has no incoming pages. If anyone has any objections we can discuss them here, many thanks - Dumelow (talk) 09:15, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose. Although at this time Wikipedia lacks other articles, a Google web search finds several other notable George Berkleys, including an SS George Berkley and several different authors of books. So, absent evidence that the engineer is a well-known primary topic, George Berkley should be a disambiguation page. --Una Smith (talk) 16:38, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comments[edit]

I agree that George Berkley should not redirect to George Berkeley. --Una Smith (talk) 16:38, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If the parenthetical "engineer" is the concern, this article could be moved to Sir George Berkley. That would conform with the lead. --Una Smith (talk) 16:38, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was not aware of any other George Berkleys when I made the nomination. I have no problems with the parenthetical engineer, several other articles I have created have had this. I note you have made George Berkley into a dab page which suits the situation perfectly (allowing links for the other George Berkleys when they are created). I am withdrawing the move nom - Dumelow (talk) 17:39, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good. I found some other people named George Berkley mentioned in Wikipedia, and linked them to George Berkley. --Una Smith (talk) 17:54, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
