Wording question[edit]

Is there some reason for saying he was "an inventor of a wooden golf tee" instead of "the inventor of the golf tee"? He was not one of many inventors of wooden golf tees, and there were not, like, porcelain or metal golf tees before he came along. There were mounds of sand.
