Space travel[edit]

"Trade Winds was as important in Hadley's day as the understanding of the solar wind and other extraterrestrial phenomena is to contemporary scientists considering manned lunar and Martian expeditions."

I thought that was an odd comparison, because trade winds were (and are) of much greater important than manned space travel is today. Then, they were instrumental in global commerce and the spread of empire, and today they move weather phenomena (eg hurricanes) than can cost billions in damage.
