I think 68 just didn't know how to code outward lks (which are now there), & was not asking for the creation of inward lks to their conrib.

Any question about there being 2 GJMs?

_ _ IMO that description of GJM is not up to the NYT's standards if he is the diplomat & former senator. So i am left uncertain that we are right to say that the senator and diplomat is also the US attorney (which BTW, as our lk supports, is something substantially more than an attorney practicing in the US), baseball troubleshooter, and potential commissioner. I'm encouraged that we have it right in light of the middle initial, but someone please document here a reliable source that either says they are the same person or says "sometimes confused with". _ _ If the common identity is verifiable, his entry in the George Mitchell Dab needs to mention baseball.

We certainly could; but, that would not be any guarantee: we could assume, as well, that some journalist had asked him, & that he might have clarified it in some fashion. Someone, find the quote,.... please.

We could, as well, assume that he has had some reason to release his baseball report @ this moment, in order to preempt the msnbc version of a Democratic debate. He must have some reason why he wants someone to be distracted from one, or both. As soon as he would explain about that, there should be a paragraph.

There is nothing specific mentioned about his Dec, 2000 - April 2001 study of the "Palestinian problem". (I assume it is one of the two Mitchell reports mentioned.) Given his new post, this would seem to warrant a substantial mention. NathanZook (talk) 17:45, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm a little confused -- the first paragraph in the "Origins" section says that "he was a janitor" after discussing both Mitchell and his father, leaving me confused about which of them was a janitor. Especially since the second paragraph talks about George the Son being a janitor. There seems to be no reason to list it in both paragraphs if we're only talking about the son, but the first paragraph is unclear to me. Can someone knowledgable about this please clean it up? Lack of Red Sox in steroids reports

I removed the comment implying possible bias in the Mitchell report as to the large number of Yankees and low number of Red Sox for the following reasons:

1. It was not NPOV. Mitchell has repeatedly denied such allegations, and these denials were not mentioned.

2. While there were no current Red Sox mentioned in the report, there were a number of former Red Sox (such as Clemens)

3. The reason why there were a number of Yankees it easily explained by the fact that McNamee was one of the key sources of the report, and he works in the Yankees club house

There are any number of reasons why I dislike the report that Mitchell put out, in fact I think it was very poorly research and a silly press gimmick. However to accuse the former senate majority leader of doctoring the report due to fandom without evidence is not something that belongs on this site. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.65.168.215 (talk) 17:38, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Yes, in a sense. George's mother Mary Saad was born in Lebanon, an Arab country, and emigrated to USA.

George's father was born in Boston, but his father's birth parents were Irish.

My source is the transcript of an oral history interview with George Mitchell:

This oral history also suggests that George's father was primarily a labourer (cutting and hauling trees), although it does confirm that he was a janitor at Colby College (as the main article says) in 1954.

Could someone please add the oral history interview as a reference on the main page, to confirm George's connection with Lebanon.

I added a link to the oral history interview to the "External links" section. The interview confirms Mitchell's connection with Lebanon but not that he ever "defined himself" as Arab-American, so I added a "citation needed" tag to that bit. --Bwiki (talk) 21:06, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
