Fate[edit]

We need to make up our minds with regard to the boat's fate. While it is obvious that the boat "sank", to say that "she was sunk" implies that an outside agent, namely Allied ships and/or aircraft, were responsible for her loss, when, in fact, no Allied attack can be linked to her disappearance. The info box and introduction both clearly state that she was lost under unknown circumstances, but the paragraph on her last patrol states the above, that "she was sunk" with a source attribution to the (unfortunately) ubiquitous uboat.net site. It would be nice if all of these U-boat-related articles had real, reliable sources instead of uboat.net, but I fear that people connected to that site have made it their business to make sure that any and all U-boat pages lead one way or another to them, if for no other reason than to claim an authority over the subject that they really don't deserve.--172.190.125.225 (talk) 04:23, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
