Death date[edit]

We currently show him dying on 17 January, yet I can find very few sources that back this up - this is one of them.

The majority say he died on 15 January – [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6].

This even says "He died early in January 1775, his remarkably active life commemorated by a large gathering at a memorial service held on January 16".

On this basis, I’m changing the death date to 15 January 1775. -- JackofOz (talk) 06:10, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Chamber music[edit]

Currently, the article says that Sammartini's "compositions include 4 operas, about 70 symphonies, ten concertos and some of the earliest chamber music known in the history of western music." I'm no specialist, but the reference to chamber music is, I believe, pure and utter bunk. A couple centuries of fantasias, "In nomines," instrumental dances, etc. and more than a half-century of trio sonatas, solo sonatas, etc. precede him. Is this comment about his contribution to chamber music getting at something inobvious that is merely clumsily stated here? Someone who knows his oeuvre better than me should probably emend. --Nostalgicmodernist (talk) 06:01, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Operas[edit]

While the text says Sammartini wrote four operas, the list at the end of the article states that he only wrote three operas. Which of the statements is correct? (The German wikipedia mentions three operas as well). --Sbjoern (talk) 16:19, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
