Legal actions / controversy[edit]

Hey, so I've reverted an edit which removed references to UFOs which didn't have any rational46.20.84.98 (talk) 21:01, 30 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

with it, since the records seems to indicate this indeed happened.

There is both talk-page drama happening on it.wikipedia with the latest page blocked from editing due to threatening legal action from Vatinno himself.

Let's try to work something out before this page gets the same treatment please :) Deku-shrub (talk) 13:16, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

An anonymous user is deleting, repeatedly and without reason, some relevant informations. Would be appropriate for an admin to intervene --Willkane82 (talk) 19:33, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

At this point, the page should be permanently blocked and obscured until the end of the alleged legal dispute resolution, as happened to the Italian version, because currently it appears apologetic, with the complete loss of every reference considered detrimental (but actually real and relevant). 46.20.84.98 (talk) 21:01, 30 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with 46.20.84.98, the page is apologetic and by all means without much relevance for the international community not complying with enciclopedic standards. Raghnar (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 06:47, 20 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

There is a frequent removal by anonymous of an UFO story, if that is veryfied why not keeping? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pt186quadrupole (talkcontribs) 08:54, 6 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format. Cannolis (talk) 00:57, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Minor media controversy[edit]

I'm not sure that this is appropriate. The awkward wording, the linked machine translations, the relevancy of the issue and the conclusion that it created a "minor social media controversy" to me is indicative of the type of information we strive to keep off BLPs, not do battle to include. Did it have an impact on the subject's career? Perhaps it could be summarized a bit to give it less weight but as it stands it strikes me as semi-humorous trivia that does not belong in the article. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 18:27, 6 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I did a bit of research on the guy. I would not know how to word it enciclopedically, I am not english native and not wiki expert. This on UFOs is his only parliamentar interrogation (http://leg16.camera.it/29?shadow_deputato=305321). For this the Italian Transhumanist association "took dinstances in explicit and sharp way" from the parliamentar (http://transumanisti.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=32:il-network-h-sullinterrogazione-parlamentare-dellon-giuseppe-vatinno&catid=2:notizie) . So if the encliclopedity of the guy is of having being in parliament, as transhumanist, than its only activity that made originally in the parliament that led the transhumanist association dissociate from him is notable as well, much more than a self-published book and a self-indulged title.
You cannot found anything in english maybe, since the guy is not internationally relevant.

Regarding the books are all from payment publishing, all in italian (don't know why the titles are in english, maybe to testify to the fact that the main editor was Vatinno himself with IP 79...etc... and Totemi, as admittet by the user Totemi), all for non-practitioners. And about precision, I'm not sure what "perfectioned" means in english related to studies. Vatinno does not have a doctorate and research associated. Apparently his thesis (one of the self-published books) was on solitons, thus not in particle physics. If you think I can try to adjust all this information in the voice, but I don't think I have enough wiki experience (I don't have any) for such difficult voice. But as it is the voice does not seem to reflect the calibre of the guy, leaving out important details and including not so important ones, seems more like a self written CV.Pt186quadrupole (talk) 07:35, 7 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not saying I need sources in English, that's not required (see WP:NOENG). I can read Italian just fine. I'm not necessarily saying this shouldn't be included either. What I'm saying is the wording is terrible, the weight is probably too much and the sourcing is substandard. Was this not covered in mainstream Italian media? Corriere della Sera or Repubblica or something like that? If it wasn't then that's a good indication we should not be including it. It's fringe enough that it's about UFOs to begin with. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 20:06, 7 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The wording might be terrible, but also right now the voice is terrible. I would remove completely the references to the "media controversy", that is not relevant. What is relevant is that this was its ONLY interrogation in the parliament. Thus is useless to describe the parties and the commission if not a single word is spend to its only single-handed work. Some of the sourcing is of Corriere (misterobufo is of corriere group) or refers to Republica's printed version that talked also about another debacle of the guy. Was also sourced in Corriere della Sera (http://archiviostorico.corriere.it/2013/marzo/01/onorevole_piu_povero_ufologo_Vatinno_co_0_20130301_8d5f9516-8238-11e2-88ca-1dbcbc45c57c.shtml) and Espresso (http://temi.repubblica.it/espresso-open-politix/2013/01/16/con-l%E2%80%99onorevole-giuseppe-vatinno-idv-anche-gli-ufo-arrivano-in-parlamento/). But IMHO I would demote the media controversy and only talk about the fact that this was is interrogation that led him to be kicked out of transhumanist association Citing the two official direct sources above. Something like "The activity in the chamber of deputies of Vatinno was limited to an interrogation on UFO rooted in an apocryphal story (ref. http://leg16.camera.it/29?shadow_deputato=305321) that led the italian transhumanist association to detach from him explicitly (ref. http://transumanisti.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=32:il-network-h-sullinterrogazione-parlamentare-dellon-giuseppe-vatinno&catid=2:notizie)" This is first hand objective and imho relevant information, much more than his party jump. Please help me review the phrasing for a better english.Pt186quadrupole (talk) 13:13, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I followed the suggestion to modify. I removed the reference to the degree (what does it mean "perfected" by the way? He does not have a doctorate, nor publications in that domains) since not relevant. I removed from the list of the publications the ones with English title (all the publications are in Italian, I guess, I could not find source for most of those), and rephrased as suggested. Hope it complies to standards.
