Magic Mountain[edit]

Farewell, beachside monstrosity...

Whatever happened to Magic Mountain? When I lived in Adelaide circa '95, plans were afoot to pull Magic Mountain down for apartments. I guess it's gone by now? Is information on it worth including here in the article? It was quite a fun and unique amusement park for it's day. -- Longhair | Talk 14:13, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Ferris Wheel[edit]

In reply to this edit, it was apparently published in the local Messenger newspaper earlier this month that the wheel will be up before Christmas. I have not yet found a copy of the article myself, but it was discussed here on a web forum. I realise that this is not an appropriate source for Wikipedia, but I hope to have my hands on the article shortly, or at least before the wheel is supposed to be up. --AtD 16:18, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Looking through the article the section on the Jetty has an opening confusing statement "In August 1857, Construction of Glenelg's first jetty commenced, and was opened on ANZAC Day, 1859." ANZAC Day wasnt created until about 60 years later, I'd suggest that you use 25th April say something like "this day later became known as ANZAC Day", continue on with any official association between the two. more to follow Gnangarra 11:13, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lead section[edit]

When I started editing this article, the lead section said "Established in 1836, it is the oldest European settlement on mainland South Australia (the oldest is Kingscote on Kangaroo Island)." This is grammatically nonsensical, and in any case, the oldest settlement on any part of South Australia is completely irrelevant to an article about Glenelg. But someone is trying to restore this information, without explaining why. It should be obvious to anyone that Glenelg's place in the history of South Australia is relevant in an article about Glenelg; Kingscote's place is not relevant in an article about Glenelg.
