Sort by dollar amount[edit]

It'd be great if someone could sort the table by default by descending amount raised.Terrorist96 (talk) 01:48, 21 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

By date would make more sense to me. It was in roughly that order until just a little while ago.  SchreiberBike | ⌨  03:09, 21 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I've restored it to date order, but put them with most recent on top. Other sort orders are legitimate, and we can discuss what people think is best, but it was out of order until I made the recent changes. I suspect that people would like to see the most recent item near the top and this meets that need.  SchreiberBike | ⌨  05:01, 21 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Why would the reader care how recent it is? Alphabetical or amount raised would be more useful to the reader. --Guy Macon (talk) 07:50, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

GoFundMe isn't a reliable source[edit]

Seems that the "notable projects" table can no longer be updated with proper links to GoFundMe, since the domain (gofundme.com) is now blacklisted in Wikipedia (in general)?

I get the blacklisting, but I would suggest that this particular page be exempted from it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.199.42.73 (talk) 23:20, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I've tried. It didn't work. Others have tried too.Terrorist96 (talk) 00:01, 6 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That's because GoFundMe isn't a reliable source. Just look for citations to reliable secondary sources that establish that the campaign in question is notable. --Guy Macon (talk) 07:47, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Israel Falou case[edit]

Hadn’t heard of this website before the $700k Israe Falou donation page was taken offline. Should be included particularly given the media coverage and thus citations to reputable journals available, as well as comparing it to “notable” cases listing including a $50k fundraiser in comparison... Also notable because CEO has been defending this take down, as well as accusations that Go Fund Me are siphoning off funds for their own personal costs, observing that Israel Falou only received $700k vs nearly $1.5m when hosted by another website in quite a shorter period of time... This has been attributed by Go Fund Me to credit card processing and admin costs but there has been reputable discussion of class action against Go Fund Me fees 180.219.160.62 (talk) 16:35, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You need to provide sources establishing notability. --Guy Macon (talk) 07:48, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"List of projects"[edit]

Why does this section exist and what is the criteria for inclusion? Any objections to just deleting this - surely dealt with better in prose? Ivar the Boneful (talk) 08:55, 6 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Well notable GoFundMe funds have raised either millions of dollars or money for celebrity purposes. Nate Rybner 16:06, 8 February 2022 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Naterybner (talkcontribs)

From Wikipedis page "with contributions from over 120 million donors.[2]" At this point the following needs to be added:GoFundMe’s bans collects raised the conservatives while allowing collects that would benefit left-leaning ideologies for political reasons.

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Pretty clear WP:POV pushing, also not sure why multiple unreliable websites are being linked when you're pretty much just quoting a single piece from the Epoch Times which we do not consider reliable here. Damar Hamlin fundraiser reaches $8 million[edit]

making a suggestion- probably a good idea to add his his fundraiser to the notable project’s category as its one of the biggest gofundmes ever and one of the fastest growing gofundmes ever 2603:7080:A03E:E800:CD9D:B95B:D8C6:142E (talk) 02:14, 7 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Controversies[edit]

On Tuesday, 27 June 2023, a 17-year-old Nahel Marzouk was killed by a police officer during a routine traffic stop. While the police officer has been arrested and will be tried for homicide, a right wing activist Jean Messiha organised a controversial crowdfunding in favour of the police officer’s family which reached €1,6 million. This killing has sparked important riots in France and the crowdfunding initiative is currently in the process of being cancelled by French courts. 81.98.57.156 (talk) 12:23, 5 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
