SPAD merge[edit]

I suggest merging San Pablo Arts District into an Arts section of this article. SPAD is poorly sourced, and there isn't even much agreement that there is a district called that. There is a SPAD Fund organization that isn't very active in the area currently, and others saying Golden Gate Arts District. Not clear much of the local arts activity, of which there is more worth documenting than mentioned in the SPAD article, is conscious of the name. Finally, it is worth better covering this activity in the neighborhood article. Mike Linksvayer (talk) 19:04, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree with merging. SPAD is geographically much smaller than the Golden Gate district. And has a different purpose: Golden Gate is an overarching neighborhood, thus named by the city. (And perhaps being replaced by the name NOBE.) SPAD emphasis the core part of the Golden Gate commercial corridor, where the art galleries are. This is similar to Berkeley's Arts District, which is a sub-part of downtown Berkeley.
New galleries are opening, and the SPAD seems to be gaining both momentum and recognition as of May 2013. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.141.113.6 (talk) 16:58, 25 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I agree new galleries are opening (thanks for adding to the article), but can't discern any connection to SPAD. Any references anyone can add would be most welcome. Mike Linksvayer (talk) 15:48, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
