motivation[edit]

It is admitted that the FBI used a UPS ruse to try to gain entry to a Gadsden Minutemen home where the original tape was kept, and a raid on one member's home for the tape was justified on allegations he was growing medicinal marijuana for personal use. Why did the Gadsden Minutemen risk so much by bearding the lion (ATF) in its den (news media and public opinion)?

The documentary "Waco: The Rules of Engagement" includes this snippet of Henry S. Ruth, Jr., Independent Reviewer, US Treasury Report on Waco: "At least part of the ATF motivation, even if it never rose to the surface of discussion, was to enforce the morals of our society. To enforce the psyche of right thinking by retaliating against these odd people."

Part of the motivation of the militia movement to expose the ATF over the Good O' Boys Roundup, which actually was part of the open discussion, was the hypocrisy of the government justifying the Waco Raid and Siege citing ATF agents' righteous outrage over David Koresh's harem of eleven or twelve females 14 to 54 years of age.

Although there were attempts in the news media to depict the photos and video from the Roundup as fabrications by the militia (and the usual suspects, including rightwing BBS and the NRA), the memo from the Knoxville USAO to AUSAs to avoid GOB because of rampant drunkness, strippers and adultery predated any militia interest in the GOB.
