Clarify[edit]

"Accounts in EU countries used to employ the 'googlemail.com' domain because Google did not own it."

Because Google did not own the googlemail.com domain? That would make no sense. Because they did not own the gmail.com domain? Then how would they use it elsewhere? Because they did not own the trademark in the EU? More plausible.
