Missing restrictions[edit]

The restrictions are not mentioned. I'm aware of some calendar sync restrictions, but haven't found comprehensive sources. -- SEWilco (talk) 15:31, 24 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No mention of data security...[edit]

this article doesn't even begin to discuss data security between the mobile device and the cloud. footnote 4 is from a 2009 article--that is eons ago on the web. is the data encrypted coming and going to the cloud? is it encrypted on the cloud? what rights does google have to the data? can they decrypt it on the cloud? ..... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:100:6156:EC7F:0:0:0:1 (talk) 14:26, 26 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dubious use of past tense.[edit]

The sync service is still working for retail customers, so the article as written is not accurate. The google.com/sync site is still live. I wonder if it is just its scope that has been reduced - for example I don't see a reference to exchange or symbian. But it certainly works between android devices.

I would like to add -through my experience- that not only does calendar, gmail, contacts, chrome /bookmarks, play books etc get synced post factory reset or new mobile phone aquisition, but to my amazement, all apps installed from Play Store. In other words, be it tablet or mobile phone, you get a clone of your previously running device right down to screen shortcuts. My devices are operating under android 4.1.2 to 4.2.4 OS. I'm researching how this is possible, but have no result yet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Igmarshfrance (talkcontribs) 23:18, 25 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Weird wording for an encyclopedia[edit]

"Google Backup and Sync is used to backup files and photo safety in Google Drive and Google Photos. You are probably keeping your important data and photos in different files and folders, your computer, Phone, SD cards, and digital camera which you use from time to time. Today, the era it could be very challenging to keep all our data safe, well organized, and day to day backup of data, so that was the main reason to introduce Backup and Sync. (...)"

This and the rest of this paragraph has weird wording that doesn't sound encyclopedic. Tslawrk (talk) 10:56, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
