Merge Big Tree article[edit]

The Big Tree, Rockport should probably be merged into this article. Any objections? howcheng {chat} 18:53, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose The tree has well established notability as a champion oak, not as "the big tree in a park" but for its exceptional age/size, its location is immaterial to its mention. There aren't many individual trees that have articles, those few that do, deserve them for their very unique status. Joyce Kilmer would not be pleased if it was merged! ;) Jacksinterweb (talk) 19:36, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Absolutely concur with above. This tree deserves individual recognition. Any single factor such as its age, size, genuine beauty, or symbolism of strength and endurance would qualify this tree as a point of interest for the world. When combined, I feel that this tree is one of the most amazing natural features of our world. This tree deserves not only its own Wiki but as much protection and preservation possible. I love Goose Island but truly feel that this tree is what makes the park special. Dwriggs (talk) 02:20, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
