Natives[edit]

Both articles on Mark Knopfler and Jonathan Edwards claim they were born in Glasgow and London, respectively, which hardly makes them natives of Gosforth. - Dudesleeper 20:41, 10 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Supermarkets[edit]

I am concerned about the neutrality of the statements about the Supermarkets in Gosforth.

TubularWorld, you are mistaken. The restaurant is not in an addition to the store; the space was made by reducing the normal food and clothing retail area and resiting the checkouts away from the frontage. I know this because I live very close by and use Asda several times a week, including throughout the refurbishment process. At no time was the store physically extended. After TubularWorld first put this in I went round to check - the store HAS been extended (on the North elevation) and reduced the size of the car park. It is noticable as the roof tiles don't quite match. However, the extension was so small, relative to the whole store, that I question whether it is sufficient to warrant inclusion. A planning application is no evidence, as it can be refused, amended, withdrawn or allowed to lapse. This particular application refers to a major extension on the south side of the store, which manifestly has not taken place. If you don't believe us - go onto Google Earth and compare the photos from 15 July 2006 and 23 July 2008 - notice that in the 2006 image there are some cars, but in the 2008 image there is the white roof of the restaurant. He has told me that the addition of the photo shop was added within the original building. The in store customer restaurant was added as an extension to the main building. Population[edit]

Have changed this to the correct figure from the 2001 Census. An earlier edit had entered in error the figure for Gateshead, some ten times larger.Terwilliger 20:08, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect Image Caption[edit]

Hi The mouse-over caption of the top image https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gosforth#/media/File:Gosforth_High_Street_4.jpg is incorrect. This is Elmfield Road intersecting the High Street, not Church Road. Don't know how to change that. Toothpickdog (talk) 04:52, 1 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
