Departmental and youth links removed[edit]

So I do see the argument about the links. But in this case there are an exact number of departments that make up the civil service arm of the Government of South Australia. Would you likewise argue that it's inappropriate to enumerate and describe those in the article? Presumably if they were added in that fashion, links to the departments would be OK? Hi Osterby and Triki-wiki, the relevant policies are at WP:NOT#LINK and WP:LINKS, the issue is that the Government website is already linked and once you go to that parent website it is easy to navigate to sub-websites such as departmental or youth sites. I'm not worried about it much as it's not too excessive yet so if you feel strongly about it I'd at least be ok with the youth one being restored, however others might disagree. Article for each SA Government[edit]

Hi, I'm planning on adding articles for Bannon Government(6 articles use it), Arnold Government(3 articles use it), Brown Government(222 articles use it - not all for SA), Olsen Government(5 articles use it), Kerin Government(4 articles use it), Rann Government(27 articles use it), Weatherill Government(1 articles use it) or Bannon Labor Government(5 articles use it), Arnold Labor Government(0 articles use it), Brown Liberal Government(2 articles use it), Olsen Liberal Government(5 articles use it), Kerin Liberal Government(3 articles use it), Rann Labor Government(11 articles use it), Weatherill Labor Government(2 articles use it). What is your opinion on this? They are common terms used in Wikipedia and the media and reliable sources. If there is a better place to discuss this I am happy for you to move this there. Maybe here. We are able to do this with federal governments due to the number of sources available. This hasn't been done with state governments due to a lack of sources available. What would your sources be? Timeshift (talk) 06:00, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I saw the Hawke Government, Keating Government, Howard Government, Rudd Government and Gillard Government ones. The current Bannon, Arnold, Brown, Olsen, Kerin, Rann and Weatherill pages cover personal stuff, political career, and the details about the period they were the Premier (XXXX Government) that are sometimes out of place on their personal page. The sources would be about things like election results, popularity graphs during the period, Government achievements and changes during the election terms. How the term started and ended. Leadership spills, cabinet reshuffles, etc. Be able to give the answer to "who was the SA Police Minister in 1984"? An encyclopedia would have that and there is currently no place for it. The current Premier of South Australia has the bare minimum. The Government of South Australia article has the "current" details but nothing historical. Can you please be clearer about what exactly you want me to answer. If you google "weatherill labor government" you get 31,500 search results. If you google "weatherill government" you get 4,530 search results. If you google "Olsen Government" you get 16,300 search results. So moving on, would it be better to use the 2 word or 3 word version?. Maybe add both and make the main article the 3 word version and have the 2 word version redirecting to the 3 word article.Philiashasspots (talk) 06:27, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone can google, many have tried. Almost all of the search results are irrelevant or not a WP:RS. What five or ten sources at a minimum would you use from those search results to form the basis of proposed government articles? It is very hard with what is available to create X government articles for state parliaments, the reason they were adopted federally a few years ago is because John Howard's article just became so very large. The Corporation Called the South Australian Government

Why is it left out that the SA Government is a business? Registered with A.B.N. 050208921, and other departments also, such as the Company called the South Australian Police A.B.N. 93799021552. Article restructure[edit]

Hi there. I've just restructured this article as it was starting to have list-like properties. All the agencies have been transferred to List of South Australian government agencies and then just a brief summary of each department. I've also added the ministry, as this is an important part of government (more important than agencies). Do we need a brief summary of Parliament? Feedback, as always, is welcome.
