Infobox fields[edit]

The documentation for how the infobox (the box at the top right of the page) works is at Template:Infobox football biography.

The year ranges against each club are for dates contracted. Mr Vignal last played for Liverpool in 2003, but he was contracted to the club until 2005 – otherwise his next 3 clubs wouldn't have been on loan from Liverpool – so 2005 is the appropriate end year for his Liverpool career.

It may not be obvious that the playing stats are for club domestic league matches only, although it does say so in small print at the bottom of the box. This applies to everybody, and means that the only matches and goals counted are those in the domestic league in which the club's first-team played, which for Liverpool was the Premier League and for Rangers was the SPL: no FA Cup or Scottish Cup, no League Cup, no play-offs, no UEFA competitions, no friendlies. And the player has to have actually played: games in which they were an unused substitute are not counted.

According to the Premier League website, standard stats sources covering English football in the early 2000s: Soccerbase, Barry J. Hugman's site, 11v11, and the Liverpool FC history site LFC History, Mr Vignal has 11 Premier League appearances for Liverpool. Some of those links also verify he has 20 appearances in all first-team competitions, as does the Liverpool FC website profile linked in the #External links modified section immediately above.

And the managerial section is primarily for manager/head coach roles, not for every detail of a person's coaching career. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 16:32, 2 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
