Honours[edit]

I removed the Honours section, as it is completely redandant. The medals are easily seen in the right hand side banner, by actually reading the history and again in the list of participations. vangos 15:43, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Greece basketball current squad.jpg[edit]

Image:Greece basketball current squad.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I have now provided a rational for fair use of the image in question in this article. vangos (talk) 12:08, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Memorable matches table[edit]

I've added a table with some of the most memorable matches, as is done for the football team. Feel free to add any memorable matches that have escaped my memory. --Tsourkpk (talk) 03:32, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion[edit]

The article is becoming too long. In my opinion we shall remove the memorable matches section (sth almost all other national pages don't have) and we shall stick to the rosters of the teams that achieved successes in tournaments rather than having all rosters of almost all competitions we took part. What do you think? --—Ioannes Tzimiskes Talk 18:46, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed several times the section of the past rosters which is terrible and too long (half of the article), but User:Wiki Greek Basketball always revert this edit. Actually it adds nothing to the article, I totally agree to it being removed. There are already templates for the rosters that have won a medal and we could put them in this section using a collapsible table. Furthermore, the section, as it is, doesn't improve the quality of the article and one of the main points is to make it better and place it higher on the quality scale. As for the the memorable matches, the fact that no other article has such a section isn't an argument, it doesn't prevent us from adding an innovation which is quite interesting for the reader. We don't have to use other articles as a guide, especially when all the articles about national basketball teams are too poor and worse than this. Sthenel (talk) 00:27, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes but keep in mind that there is (should be) a norm in writing an article. Memorable matches section is somewhat controversial because there aren't certain guidelines (not in all but in most cases) upon to agree about a match being memorable (example why 1997 Euro win against Russia in group stage when we lost to the same team by 20 in the bronze medal game, or to 2008 China game etc ). At the same time our semi finals defeats to Yugo in 1995 and 1998 are classics. In any case it isn't such a priority to remove the section so i don't have a problem sticking to it. But as you said the rosters must go. I had the same problem with that user a while ago because in notable players section of Greek teams he literally put every single foreign player that has ever worn a team's shirt no matter if he was notable or not.... --—Ioannes Tzimiskes Talk 10:33, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In the memorable matches we should include notable wins in medal games or against strong teams (for example the champions at the time) and large wins against strong opponents. It's obvious that the above user wants to enrich basketball articles, but sometimes they overflow from his information. The section should be removed. Depth chart[edit]

I removed the depth chart. Leave Message, Yellow Evan home

I removed it again, but why is it reverted. It is original research. YE Tropical Cyclone 13:05, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It is NOT original research.74.194.176.82 (talk) 20:15, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Give me a source. YE Tropical Cyclone 20:50, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I can give you 30 articles on the top of my head that dont have depth charts. YE Tropical Cyclone 22:23, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
NBA articles. All the FIBA articles have them. You are just an NBA fan that wants them removed from FIBA articles and you started a big fight about it and you got another guy to send threatening warnings to be over it. There are DOZENS of articles that have the depth charts.23:22, 23 August 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.194.176.82 (talk)
The NBA articles have nothing at all to do with FIBA and are not related. You are just patrolling other articles and trying to force all the rules NBA fans want on them. I looked at Greece's depth chart and noticed that an American backs up a Greek player. That is exactly why you want the depth chart removed.74.194.176.82 (talk) 23:26, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This proves it is not original research. I am sure you will claim that nothing in anything other than English can be trusted. There are Greek articles but I already had one guy start a big fight with me before and threaten to block me because I used Greek articles as a source.

http://www.acb.com/campeonato_equipo.php?id=21 It lists all the players by place. Vasilopoulos, Pappas, Papanikolau, and Mavrokefalidis have been cut from the team. There is no "original research" and you know it.74.194.176.82 (talk) 23:30, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is a confusion about what a depth chart is that leads to controversial edits. Depth chart is not the players in the current roster. It is all the active players that are committed to play for the national team in case they are called, organized by coach's preference, regardless if some of them are temporarily unavailable due to injuries or due to other team duties. Please make edits to this chart only based on reliable sources indicating the coach preference.--Clicklander (talk) 05:40, 22 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
