Plot summary[edit]

It was a great performance by Drew Barrymore. The flag-twirling scene was hilarious. Very close to the documentary. Accurate protrayals by Barrymore and Lange. Its a tragic story. How could they live in such squalor. The documentary and the 2009 film both do a tremendous injustice to the Beales, and to the viewers. They don't answer key questions. Was it a dire financial situation? Was it mental illness? And there were other siblings who disappeared, abandoning the situation. So many questions to be answered!
