I could find no mention of toadfish toxins on the following site discussing gulf fish. http://txmarspecies.tamug.edu/fishthumbs.cfm
I consider that a fairly authoritative source. They did mention other fish with toxins or electric shock potential like the southern stargazer.
It seems that the claim of toadfish being toxic might be an urban myth. PuckSR (talk) 02:21, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
