Primary Sources only?[edit]

The vast majority of the sources cited in this article are from primary American based sources. This article seems more like red scare and anti-Cuba propaganda, then a neutral history of the term discussed. 73.189.132.164 (talk) 04:43, 23 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know man, care to provide any specific things you find to be "propaganda"? EytanMelech (talk) 09:49, 23 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"Slur" is inflammatory and opinionated[edit]

The use of the term slur should be considered very carefully, and should certainly be removed from this article. It is pejorative, but the majority of pejorative language is not considered a slur. The use of the word 'worm' has specific etymological implications within anti-capitalist economic philosophy, namely, that traditionally capitalist roles in society such as that of a landlord are 'parasitic' like some worms. The article should expand to include references to the Marxist political philosophy from which this term stems, and refrain from making moral judgment on the use of the term. 68.248.141.254 (talk) 03:09, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I am unsure of what you want us to do. The article very clearly includes the specific instance of the word that caused its popularity, as well as its growing use as a political weapon. The fact that "Marxists" do not like landlords has little to nothing to do with this article. EytanMelech (talk) 10:14, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I mean, there's nothing in the text that proves its a SLUR. It's a pejorative term, but the title of the article makes a claim that the body doesn't support. 2601:602:9881:4760:DCE5:CB94:FDD:3306 (talk) 02:14, 16 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If a word specifically is used against a specific ethnic group in a pejorative way, it’s a slur. 23.93.17.238 (talk) 14:45, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's not used against a specific ethnic group, it's used against a certain political persuasion (within a certain country). That's like saying 'Repthugs' or 'Democraps', 'Trumptards', 'shitlibs' or the earlier 'teabaggers' are ethnic slurs against Americans because they allude to political persuasions among Americans. But I suppose that 'slurs' don't have to be ethnic.--62.73.69.121 (talk) 04:22, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It is used mostly against ethic Hispanic especially Cubano so its a slur bro 23.93.18.48 (talk) 23:08, 13 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Too narrow a definition?[edit]

I think the text of the article shows that, contrary to the lede, the term has come to refer to anyone counterrevolutionary in Cuba, not just those who have left or even intend to leave. 62.73.69.121 (talk) 04:24, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
