I think his father freed his slaves in his will, but don't have access to Family Search today, nor remember the book where I read it years ago. This article originally said Gustavus and his brother studied in Scotland, but findagrave only shows this man and a sister. For what its worth, I believe the sister's husband owned slaves.Jweaver28 (talk) 19:58, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
