Romanization[edit]

Isn't the romaji name of this album 'Ootori'? That's how it's transliterated on most sites that sell it, as well as Maximum the Hormone's official site. Kiyura (talk) 18:49, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've also wondered about this issue, but it turns out, that transliteration is something propagated by fan-created sites, which later became accepted by other credible websites. I don't see anywhere on the official site that gives the romanization as Ootori. When looking at filenames for the album cover, it is represented as "Hou" and I believe, as explained somewhere by another editor, the (ほう) portion is an instance of furigana (a hiragana guide to pronunciation of a given kanji). I never noticed this until a few weeks ago though. I hope this all helps! --Jacob Talk 22:27, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I moved this article so that its title is "Ootori", for the following reasons: 1) The character used does not, according to the dictionary I use, transliterate as "hou", but as "ootori" — so I don't know where you're getting the notion that it's fan-propagated, Jacob. "Hou" is a similar, but distinct character. 2) the Japanese version of this article writes it as "ootori" in kana. I'd like to think that the Japanese population would know what the band itself calls the allbum. (But, obviously, I could be wrong about that.) P.S., Kiyura may have been referring to the official English website. I'll have to check. NoriMori (ノリモリ) 00:52, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
