Repeated information

In the second section, the facets and names of the 6 dimensions are repeated three times. It talks about the dimensions, lists them in a sentence, then puts them in a list format with facets, then mentions how it's measured + facets, and then does another list. Pretty sure that it could do with some reordering.

New section

I will be adding a new section titled "Applications of the HEXACO model" that discusses meta-analytic studies of HEXACO correlates to different traits such as work and school behaviors, mental well-being and attitudes on sustainability and environmentalism. MLYCCX (talk) 16:37, 19 April 2022 (UTC)

This section ended up being titled "Effects of HEXACO traits through life." I reorganized some of the information from the "Current Research" section to fit into this section because it was relevant to the new section that I added. MLYCCX (talk) 03:55, 22 April 2022 (UTC)

Within the week I will also be heavily editing the History & Development section and removing a lot of the description of lexical studies. It seems too far out of the scope of the article. Lexical studies will still be mentioned, because they were an integral part of the development of the HEXACO, however, we will cut down the discussion and instead insert a link to the wiki article on lexical studies. Changes to the Article

To anyone is keeping track of this wikipage- I plan on editing parts of this article to bring it more in line with wikipedia standards. Any help, thoughts comments are always greatly appreciated. In general I would like to alter the language used to in this article. While informative, it reads just a bit too much like an introductory psychology text book. Specifically, I would like to remove parts of the "Classifying Personality Characteristics" while editing the rest of that section to make it sound more encyclopedic. I would like to add more the to "relations with B5" section and perhaps add more information about it's relation with other models (PEN and other big 6/7 theories). The theoretical basis and research studies involving the HEXACO model should be expanded as well. The H factor should get a little more attention here. Finally, I would like to add a criticism section. This would follow typical criticisms of the lexical approach to personality and to HEXACO specific criticisms that have been voiced recently in the literature. If anyone monitoring this has some input or concerns please I encourage you to jump in. Hey Fuzzybunnyhare, nice work so far on the HEXACO article! I have made some grammatical/minor edits and have linked some terms to their respective wiki pages (in case people do not understand what they are or want to learn more on those topics). I have browsed your sandbox and you have some work in there that you haven't transferred over yet, like the limitations section. I think this section has good potential as there is a lot of debate about which inventory/factors to use when describing broad traits. Also, maybe you could include a few sentences or a short paragraph describing the various factor models, as a reference point for users. Just a suggestion! Hello Fuzzybunnyhare. I previously did some very minor edits in your sand box (just commas, etc.). Went throught the article in greater detail today. I think you did a great job. The Limitations criticisms section offers balance as well. I like the Dark triad section as well - as this section helps to capture the unique aspect of the H factor of HEXACO. I made some very minor edits today including commas and some minor sentence structure changes. These were all very small changes - The article is very well written in terms of structure, content/scope, and utilizing sentences and semantics to capture concepts and research findings. If you think that my edits helped to take away from what you were trying to say, please feel free to reverse them. Also, I do have three sentences that I wanted to ask your opinion on:

• "The "dark triad" of personality consists of psychopathy, Machiavellianism and narcissism. However, these traits are not necessarily fully represented in the BFF framework." I am wondering if psychopathy, Machiavellianism and narcissism are personality types or traits?
• "Some criticism has recently been directed at the HEXACO model. De Raad et al have argued that only three personality traits are found to fully replicate (show up in analysis) across cultures." I thought that maybe the first sentence, "Some criticism has recently been directed at the HEXACO model." could be deleted as this text belongs to the paragraph that is already under the criticism section. Just a thought.
• "The "dark triad' personality traits tend to only correlate with disagreeableness on the BFF, otherwise they are represented inconsistently on measures of the Big Five." I thought it might be interesting to expand on how the H factor is represented inconsistently on the Big Five - with just one or two sentences.

Lastly, the Dark Triad section that you wrote really strengthens the article. It greatly helped me to identify how this model differs form other models. To this end, I am wondering if adding something that would capture the other extreme of the H factor - in terms of a "super-good" person, or how the average person would be explained by the H factor would also add to the article - if such literature exists on this? Lastly, if the literature supports such a notion, maybe it would be interesting to readers to have specific examples of historical figures who are thought to have been very high or very low on the H factor - like dictator Joseph Stalin, etc.? This might help to provide concrete examples to non-psychology readers to help them better relate and promote a better understanding. I am not sure that anything is written about this, though - so it is just a thought. All in all a tremendous job on a very interesting subject.Owleye769 (talk) 03:18, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

Possible updates to the article

1. Mentioning the first name of people when they are first mentioned in the article. 2. Are there other narrow facets besides Altruism? They should also be included. 3. More citations needed in the “The HEXACO model of personality” section 4. Under the section “Theoretical basis of Agreeableness, Honesty-Humility and Emotionality” it states “Honesty-Humility, Emotionality and Agreeableness are proposed to be measures of Altruistic versus Antagonistic behaviour” but above it states Altruism is a narrow facet. These seem to contradict each other, because the information in this section seems to imply altruism is a larger component where the above section indicates it is a small section (facet) of the three factors Honesty-Humility, Emotionality, and Agreeableness. 5. The section “Honesty-Humility and the Dark Triad” mentions “Machiavellianism” but does not really add details on what that construct means. 6. Also in the section “Honesty-Humility and the Dark Triad”, I believe the paragraphs should be reversed, so that a “definition” of the Dark Triad is given first and then supported details and examples should follow. I would also want to determine how much research has truly been done on the Dark Triad to determine if this paragraph should remain in the article. 7. Addition of History and Development

I and a group of 2 other students added a History and Development section. At the moment it's under further review for:

• More citations and correct use of citations.
• Matching the language used throughout the article to ensure our section maintains cohesiveness with what's currently written.
• General cleaning up of the structure.
• Plagiarism checks.

I've looked into possibly adding a small section talking about Honesty-Humility. I also noted that there was a link to the Honestly-Humility wiki article. I believe this linked article may fulfill the idea I had in mind. I will more likely decide not to add this addition depending on what's in the Honesty-Humility wiki article. Article Critiques and Suggestions

1. History and Development:

• Can be made more succinct by disregarding the history on the lexical approach and sequestering that information to its own page
• Missing several citations (where does it mention that "...it was accepted that a systematic method should be used..."?)
• Paragraphs 3 through 5 could be better placed in the page for the Big 5 Personality Model, this is the HEXACO model and it deserves its own page
• I personally feel that this section is missing some critical information and the inclusion on the Big 5 was placed there to "fill in the gaps", I've been searching for history related to it, however the articles in question are either locked behind paywalls or inconsequential to the history of the HEXACO model, help is appreciated.

2. HEXACO Model of Personality

• I'm not certain of the copyright law surrounding it, but the section starting with "Research studies based on..." appears to contain several copy-pastes directly from source 10 (look at the order of the languages, it's exactly the same), I don't know if it's intentional but it should be corrected
• Another link to factor "analysis", despite the first one further into the article in History and Development, I would suggest either linking all mentions of a term, or only the first to improve readability

3. Grammatical Issues

• I am unfamiliar with Wikipedia and their format for linking pages, but linking the word "dimensions" after the first mention of the term seems inefficient
• The entire "Relations with the "Big Five" personality factors" could do with a restructuring for clarity and to make it more readable
