"People's Republic of China"[edit]

Please don't insert the above every time for "China". --40fifw0 (talk) 11:49, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

When reverting an article that contains multiple edits you cannot use the Undo feature, you must make a manual revert on only the item that you disagree with and not revert any other changes to the document. Edits should seek to move the article forward not hold it back in the past.
Taiwan had an aid case in December 1984. This article states "People's Republic of China's first AIDS case was identified in 1985 in a dying tourist.[1] In 1989," so it must be People Republic of China. If you revert it back to just China it become a false statement. In the other sections of the article, it's revering to state government departments so again the full name needs to be used.
The essence it to find balance. You don't want the full name in every instance of the country name throughout the whole wiki. Doing so would make articles cumbersome to read. However there are places where the full formal name is required to avoid confusion or for accuracy of the facts.
The edits by user:Nebraska3 put too many of the formal name, some of which I reverted on other articles. The edits by User:40fifw0 reverted all of Nebraska3's and swung the balance to far in the other direction. Both sets of edits are incorrect and a balanced position must be sought using the correct version of the name in the appropriate places. Rincewind42 (talk) 13:30, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You keep on reinstating that "People's Republic of China" without "the" before making it very grammatically awkward. And the external links should be after the references section which is according the Manual of Style guidelines.--40fifw0 (talk) 13:59, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
1. You should have reverted it to the normal version before China was always referred to as PRC in every mention. Then you remove over wikifying.
2. This article is about Yunnan PRovince, which only exists in the PRC. Therefore distinguishing PRC from ROC is not necessary.
Fist, if the missing 'the' your bug bear then you fix the missing 'the'. Do not revert dozzens of other changes for the sake of two or three words. Fix only the two of three words and leave my edits standing. do not use the undo button. Do it propertly useing the "edit this page" button.
Re:1. Why would I remove all the PRC metions when I think some of them are correct? It's your job to edit your revert in a proper way without insulting other people by deleting their valid contributions. If you want to remove mentions of PRC then you must do so without destroying significant amounts of other peoples work.
Re:2. The article is about Yunnan but the first sentence is about China. Not only must the article be correct but every sentence in the article must stand on it's own. To say that the fist case in China was in Yunnan is false. Rincewind42 (talk) 11:37, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
