Expansion...

I've gone through and expanded the article, drawing on some of the research on the site done by English Heritage. I've also added a plan of the castle, and tidied up the rest of the references. It may need a copy edit, however. Hchc2009 (talk) 07:40, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

Good effort. I'm adding more info where I can. Will add citations from sourced info ASAP. One particular correction I've felt necessary to add: the hunting park is defined not as surrounding the castle, but rather being situated on the opposite hillside and hill top to the north and north-east; from approximately where the London Road passes east-west nowadays, extending south to where there is a stream flowing across the base of that hill. The eastern boundary is still visible as an ambankment, situated north-south: the base of the hill in earlier times at its southern terminus is also where the stream would flow into an inlet of the tidal estuary - this was the manorial boundary of Leigh and Rayleigh in the medieval era. (The boundary marker - the Burnt Oak, at the north-eastern edge of the park's former site - aligns also with this point. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.29.120.212 (talk) 07:23, 22 December 2014 (UTC)

Morning 188.29.120.212! It's really important that any material to an article is supported by references to reliable sources; it's also important that claims in the lead are supported by the material in the main body of the article. If you're new to the wiki, you may find the guidance at Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources helpful. Hchc2009 (talk) 07:43, 22 December 2014 (UTC)
