Name origin[edit]

BCGNIS does not give a name origin for this archipelago, which is nowhere near haida territory. It may be derived from this being a regular camp of raiding Haida, or the Haida allies (from Cumshewa) of the Bella Bellas, who live nearby, or those who had come to trade at Fort McLoughlin.
