Press Release[edit]

I removed this line because the press release adds no understanding as to the man's life or accomplishments. I really do not care whether he was a patriot or not, but I do know that a U.S. press release issued in the middle of a conflict in which he was an American ally is going to be supportive of him. I do not think the line makes the article POV, just that it fails to contribute any relevant information on the topic. Indrian 07:19, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't think it's clear that he *was* an American ally without the line. zafiroblue05 | Talk 18:13, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • It is possible to refer to him as an American ally without mentioning the press release. The release is meaningless PR, it is the facts that count. Indrian 19:16, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
      • Yes, the new change is exactly what I mean. Indrian 23:56, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

CSD Nomination[edit]

This article was nominated for speedy deletion but didn't meet the criteria. This seems notable enough for mine unless someone provides info on previous article. Capitalistroadster 12:23, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Haji is an honorary title[edit]

Haji Abdul Qadir : Head of Eastern Shura Council before Talibans from 1992-1996. Well known family in Afghan History. The Sir Name Arsala was a foreign minister of Afghanistan in late 1800's during the era of King Amir Sher Ali Khan. Haji Qadir comes from a wealthy landowners family who are also the tribal leaders of Jabbar Khel Clan in Afghanistan. He was deported from Pakistan in 1996 due to anti- Taliban activities and settled in Germany and Dubai for a year and then joined Northern Alliance to fight against the Talibans. Haji is an honorary title, and it is contrary to convention to include it in the title of the article.

I tried to link to Abdul Qadir, which is an article about a Pakistani cricket player. It didn't have a disambiguation link, so I created a stub under another name. At a bare minimum there should be a disambiguation link on Abdul Qadir to this article. Maybe this article should be renamed to conform to the convention that honorary titles aren't part of an article's title. -- Geo Swan 11:10, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • The article title was merely straight from WP:MEA. I'll change it now. :) zafiroblue05 | Talk 14:25, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • My mistake. I should have waited until the name of the stub I created had been deleted. So I reverted the redirect
    • Cutting and pasting is not the recommended way to move an article, because it loses the article's edit history.
    • I'll try to get that stub deleted. That was just a suggestion for the new title. Something like [[Abdul Qadir (politician)]] would be a possibiity. -- Geo Swan 15:27, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
