Hello @MattHo: I have reorganized your draft, I hope this is a progress. A few suggestions for further improvement:
The draft is written in pedagogical style ("Let us", "We"). A more encyclopedic style would be welcome, where sentences are statements of facts.
The geometric discussion at the beginning of 1.1 might be superfluous or out of place: it would be better to get more directly to the point. (Define first, explain later.)
It would be good to cite a source for the example in 1.3. Hopefully this is not Wikipedia:OR?
After moving the draft to mainspace, do not forget to wikilink it from other existing articles when appropriate.
