Infobox image[edit]

I am new to Wikipedia. I am trying to update this page, starting by adding a standard CVG infobox. I have found a few images of the game box cover on the internet, they are all quite small and I don't know anything about uploading images to wikipedia, like I don't know if these images are copyrighted or whatnot. I also have the manual for the game in pdf format, I might be able to lift an image from the cover of the manual or something but I am pretty sure that is illegal. If anyone reads this, advice would be appreciated.New User 12:16, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Images and Wikipedia are a huge quagmire of standards and tagging. If you want to contribute an image, see this for some information on uploading images. Photos you take yourself and upload are fine, as long as you agree to release them under the GFDL. Screenshots from a game are usually okay too, as long as they are tagged as such (see the link above for a discussion of what an image tag is). If you don't tag your image, it can be deleted at any time. I don't know about images from a manual. My instinct is that an image or two is covered under fair use, but others may think otherwise. — Frecklefoot | Talk 14:44, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the advice, but I had already read the uploading images page and found no help there. Here are more specific questions. Will any image do for the infobox, besides a picture of the game box cover or installation CD case cover? How about a picture of the title screen of the game, for example? If I get an image of the box cover from another website, such as MobyGames or Amazon, can I use that image in the infobox? I already saw a wikipedia article for a video game that uses such an image in its infobox; Faxanadu's image clearly has MobyGames in the corner. Unfortunately, I can't take a picture of the box myself, because I don't have it anymore. If I can't use an image of the box I got from another site, I'll have to use an image of the game title screen or no image at all (unless the aforementioned game manual thing could work). - New User 16:41, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Since this question goes beyond the scope of this one article, go ask it at the Project. You'll get more help there than I, alone, could provide. — Frecklefoot | Talk 17:51, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I added a picture to the infobox. I got the picture for Amazon.com. This is the first picture I have tried to upload to wikipedia, so it would be helpful if someone could check it out and make sure I'm not infringing on any copyrights or anything like that. - New User 20:53, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite?[edit]

This was one of my favorite games when I was younger, and I still enjoy it and play it occasionally. I might be able to significantly contribute to this article, but I might have to rewrite large sections of what is already present. Is that normally acceptable, or is it bad form to completely rewrite someone else's work? - New User 13:45, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The article hasn't been touched since it was first put up (except for a few visits by the spulling & grandma people). If you are prepared to accept other poeple will come and edit your text then I say go for it. X201 14:22, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Go ahead and rip it apart. People who contribute have to realize that anyone can come along and rewrite their contributions. It's part of wikiness. :-)
BTW: The Project is the perfect place to post questions and such on video games and related topics. If you're interested, go ahead and join the project. It doesn't cost anything, and there are no requirements other than an interest in computer/video games (if you're interested in arcade games, there's a Project for that too). — Frecklefoot | Talk 14:44, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again, but joining the Project was about the first thing I did after joining wikipedia. I also found that adding the member template box thing to my user page was not enough to get my name added to the list of members. Maybe something is awry with the code for the box? I don't understand enough about the coding for wikipedia to find the cause of the problem. - New User 16:44, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Adding that to your userpage isn't supposed to add you to the list, you have to add it manually. But it did add you to the Category:WikiProject Computer and video games members. — Frecklefoot | Talk 17:49, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Led Zeppelin book[edit]

Is there also an article for the book about Led Zeppelin by this name? Valhallaiac 20:37, 1 April 2007 (UTC) The only mention I could find is in the Stephen Davis (music journalist) article. Valhallaiac 21:29, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hammer of the GodsHammer of the Gods (video game) — Opening this move request to determine if there's a primary topic for the title "Hammer of the Gods". Looking at incoming links and Google hits, it appears that the Led Zeppelin book is the most common usage of the term. Is it sufficient to qualify as the primary topic? Suggest moving Hammer of the Gods to Hammer of the Gods (video game) and either Hammer of the Gods (book) or Hammer of the Gods (disambiguation) to Hammer of the Gods. Relisted for further input.
