Handshaking: accuracy versus brevity[edit]

@Hoof Hearted: The entry for Handshaking reads Handshaking, a computing term related to automated communication between two computing devices aimed at mutual recognition and trust, which is inaccurate since handshaking also takes place between programs and handshaking takes place for reasons having nothing to do with either mutual recognition or trust. I revised it to Handshaking, a computing term related to automated communication between two computing devices or programs aimed at, e.g., coordination between a hypervisor and a guest virtual machine, mutual recognition and trust. User:Hoof Hearted reverted that change. Shouldn't accuracy take priority or brevity even on a DAB page? Should there be multiple entries for handshaking in computing? --Shmuel (Seymour J.) @Chatul: I appreciate your desire to be thorough and accurate, but according to the wikipedia disambiguation guideline, specifically WP:DPAGE, the purpose of disambiguation pages is allowing navigation to the article on the topic being sought. The information on a disambiguation page should be focused on getting the reader to their desired article. I thought I was restoring a status quo entry, but would welcome an even shorter: Handshaking, a computing term related to automated communication between two computing devices or programs aimed at mutual recognition and trust if those are your major issues. However, examples should be given at the target article (not here), and your additional links conflict with MOS:DABONE (aimed at speedy navigation). I'm open to further collaboration with you or anyone else. Hoof Hearted (talk) 13:41, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Hoof Hearted: I like your suggested alternative. I've added {{Missing information|Handshaking in, e.g., buses, software}} and In computing, a handshake is a signal between two devices or programs, used to, e.g., authenticate, coordinate. An example is the handshaking between a hypervisor and an application in a guest virtual machine. to the article and created a section in the talk page. --Shmuel (Seymour J.)
