Seriously? Maybe someone would like to cite and elaborate. I've lived 8 miles from the Island for the last 5 years. They speak the same English that the rest of North Carolina speaks. Battle of Beaufort Reference in History Section[edit]

The article references the "Battle of Beaufort...the nearby county seat" in NC. Instead of a link to the likely nonexistant page of a very small battle in Beaufort, NC, there is instead a link to the Battle of Beaufort, SC.

This is Beaufort, NC (pronounced "boh-fert"). That is Beaufort, SC (pronounced "beau-fort"). In SC, it's a French spelling pronounced in a French way. Here in eastern NC, it's a French word pronounced in an English way. Go to either one and pronounce it the wrong way, you get a weird look.

Whoever wrote this needs to de-link that immediately, as these are two completely different battles in different states--the only similarities being the similar spellings of the towns and the state names. If someone had actually pronounced the name of each correctly and/or read the articles, this would immediately click. Ryne the Wolf (talk) 18:28, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
