Tenuous links with 1964 Brazil coup[edit]

See what I wrote here. Just like the ITT Inc article was, this article tries to link ITT and Geneen to the 1964 Brazilian coup, but the links are tenuous: (1) the Brazilian government had nationalised ITT assets in Brazil, arguably giving them some motivation to support the coup; (2) Geneen was personal friends with the CIA director, and the CIA gave heavy support to the coup; (3) several years later, when said CIA director retired, ITT hired him. I'm sorry, but that doesn't demonstrate that Geneen or ITT had any involvement in the coup. Pointing out they possibly had motive – well, having motive to do something is not by itself evidence that you actually did it. Being personal friends with the CIA director doesn't make you responsible for or involved in the CIA's activities. Nor does hiring a former CIA director make a company responsible for or involved in the CIA's activities while that director was in charge of it. Unless someone can come up with hard evidence that Geneen was involved in the 1964 coup, mention of it should be cut from his article. SJK (talk) 11:30, 20 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
