Swan Lake[edit]

According to me, the Hawaii Five-O theme is based on Tchaikovski's "Swan Lake". Didn't anyone else ever notice the striking resemblance? Only the pace is completely different.--93.206.233.116 (talk) 19:27, 8 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, the pounding drumbeat in "Swan Lake" was obviously stolen ... not. Clarityfiend (talk) 20:12, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright lawsuit[edit]

The mention of the copyright lawsuit in the lede was interesting, but it didn't tell how the suit was resolved, so I added a section on it.

The only thing is, the section I added doesn't come right out and say the suit was settled, although that's almost certainly what happened, because I haven't been able to find any reporting to that effect, and documenting my conclusion as fact would pretty clearly be WP:SYNTH.

It's pretty clear from the timeline, though: The children file suit on March 19. They don't initially file any proof of having served CBS; CBS would have had 60 days after service to file an answer. By July 7, still with no proof of service or answer filed, the court issues a show-cause order, basically telling the plaintiffs to either file proof of service or he'll dismiss the case for lack of prosecution. They filed a document showing CBS had waived service, so that's handled. September 1, the children file a stipulation giving CBS additional time to respond, which the court approves. October 2, the children file a second stipulation allowing CBS more time, which the court also approves. On November 3, they file a third stipulation, but this time the court says no: either get this case underway or I'm kicking it off my docket. He instead issues another order to show cause why the case should not be dismissed.

On November 19, the children file a notice of voluntary dismissal.

All this reads very clearly like a negotiated settlement to me. There's no way CBS would not have answered the complaint unless some promising settlement talks were underway; and if that's wrong, there's no way the children would not have moved for a default judgment. It would require extraordinary incompetence on the part of two very competent law firms otherwise.

But all that being said, this is all my WP:SYNTH, and does not merit being added to the article. If anyone is able to find any reporting of the case being settled, that would be a good way to close out that section. TJRC (talk) 20:45, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Use in CBS special presentation theme[edit]

I could have sworn I read that a few of the segments from the HFO theme were sampled for the CBS "Special" presentation theme - the one seen in the 70s and early 80s. 2603:8001:2A00:7428:385B:D878:4404:F485 (talk) 18:43, 28 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
