Famous Fan Section[edit]

What should we do with the famous fans section?

It needs to be a separate list, and surely Stephen Milne doesn't count, we can't included who AFL player followed before there were drafted... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Xreenberg (talkcontribs) 13:56, 7 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

This list should be created in a separate topic: List of famous Hawthorn Hawks supporters.

Fair use rationale for Image:Hawthorn80s.png[edit]

Image:Hawthorn80s.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:29, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merger debate[edit]

This section should be merged into the club history. --Rulesfan (talk) 03:55, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

records/club records[edit]

the two sections should be merged as they both discuss hawthorn achievements. also a top 10 goal kickers and games players should be added. come on your blue blood educated hawthorn fans. surely you can make a decent page

another section should be added for AFL records —Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.159.2.33 (talk) 00:47, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ladder Position 2008[edit]

Hawthorn finished second on the ladder in 2008, not first. It doesn't matter that they won the premiership in the final series, first place (and thus the minor premiership) was won by Geelong. There is a seperate table for premership victories. 124.182.48.180 (talk) 02:53, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

football or handball? that is the question[edit]

as Sydney found out tonight [200 handballs ] against Collingwood [100] handballs the name of the game is FOOTBALL lets take note. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.3.128.2 (talk) 11:49, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Poor sequence of events[edit]

I noticed after briefly skimming this article that some headings include events that occured outside the scope of the article, while others are mentioned twice with pieces in between detailing at length other events that occured. If someone finds the time it might be worth organising these dates in a coherent fashion.--123.243.119.185 (talk) 13:19, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hawkers[edit]

Every time I try to remove Hawkers from the nicknames section someone reverts it. Can someone please find a source that refers to the team as the hawkers (using a google search, I couldn't), and then it can be changed. Bozzio (talk) 11:51, 7 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure what was being searched - I was able to find a number of mentions in reliable sources.[1] Hack (talk) 04:25, 25 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Bozzio, another possibility for dealing with this that could alternatively have been adopted would be to either flag the text in the article with a {{citation needed}} template, or raise the issue on this Talk page (or both), instead of deleting from the article in the first instance. Then, after a suitable time has elapsed, if no evidence is brought forward to retain the term in the text, it can be safely deleted.
Hack, if you were able to find convincing references, you could have added the 'best' one into the article using the <ref></ref> markup.

Tasmania[edit]

Isn't their legal name the Tasmania Hawthorn Hawks?

Issues[edit]

This article has many issues. It is written in the language like it's someone's opinion and has grammar issues. Example which contains both: “Kennedy’s Commandos” (the term given to the team after the coach’s tough physical training program and loudly proclaimed in the huge banners that swept around the MCG (now sadly replaced by advertising signs) came into force.

This example contains both personal opinion (explained by using of the word 'sadly') and a major grammar issue. It contains a starting bracket which looks like this ( and instead of finishing the sentence put in rackets with a finishing brack which is this ) they put another starting bracket. This is absolutely ridiculous. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MKFlame7 (talkcontribs) 10:33, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like something that you could help to fix. —DIV (120.17.181.169 (talk) 14:18, 16 September 2016 (UTC))[reply]

Colours[edit]

Although in principle the club colours have been brown and gold for decades, I'm sure the brown is darker than it used to be, and I wouldn't be surprised if the gold has been changed too. Is there any actual hard data on this? —DIV (120.17.181.169 (talk) 14:14, 16 September 2016 (UTC))[reply]

Cyril Rioli, Jeff Kennett[edit]

I think the recent news about Cyril Rioli and other incidents should be added to the page in a sensitive and nuanced way. What are people's thoughts? MaskedSinger (talk) 15:13, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

copyediting[edit]

I've done some editing here and there, but it would be good if a professional editor/proofreader and Hawthorn enthusiast would take the time to copyedit the entire article. If this is done, I think there is a good case to nominate this as a good article. Electricmaster (talk) 06:44, 21 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
