Do the members of the Hayashi family known as Confucian scholars belong here? I'm not sure if they're the same as the Hayashi clan who served the Oda-- or for that matter, the Hayashi family of the Jōzai Domain, who were descended from the Ogasawara shugo of Shinano Province. I'm trying to track the Confucian Hayashi family's background, but could someone else also double-check? Perhaps I might even phrase it the other way around-- does the Hayashi family which served the Oda belong here, when much of the article deals with the Hayashi who were scholars? At any rate, thanks. -Tadakuni 18:30, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I leave that up to you, as you obviously know more about it than I do; I wasn't quite sure whether or not these were all of the same line. Incidentally, may I ask you what sources you use, as you definitely seem to have access to an extensive knowledge of specific details on families, domains, and tons of other aspects of Japan's history, far beyond what my books have to offer. Thanks...I'll see what I can find about the Hayashi family. As far as the sources I use, Hanshi Daijiten, Meiji Ishin Jinmei Jiten, and 300 Han hanshu jinmei jiten are a few of the more prominent ones. -Tadakuni 00:34, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
