Disaster?[edit]

This article appears to have a glaring omission: details of the 1878 disaster that killed 189? It is mentioned in the merest detail. There must be decent acocunts of this which could be added. As a passing observer from a different country I have no knowledge (and little interest, to be honest) in the matter but surely there must be mining enthusiasts and/or local historians or even just folk with the internet who can add some detail to this large scale incident. Compare this with two articles I am aware of, Blantyre mining disaster, Udston mining disaster, and also with Clifton Hall Colliery#Disaster which is at least some text. There were indeed multiple mining disasters at the various Haydock pits including the one to which you refer. I wrote a List of mining disasters in Lancashire that is linked in the See also section but it is one that I have only mentioned the basic details because I haven't found them (yet). You are very welcome to add details because as far as I am aware I am one of the very few editors that have shown any interest in mining in this part of the world. Sorry you were disappointed. This article appears to be wrong! Haydock Collieries was a public limited company created in 1889 after the death of the last member of the Evans family. Pre - 1889 the operating company was Richard Evans and Co.. Ironically, Richard Evans died in 1864 and didn't see the extent of the company's expansion. Why is the article titled Haydock Collieries when it only contains information about Richard Evans and Co.? Where's the information about Haydock Collieries Company PLC?
