I have reason to believe that, while the name "Jayuya" refers to a native chief, the word is not a proper name. I strongly believe it was a nickname. The chief's name may be lost in time. Chances are the Spaniards actually made fun of his haircut, which resembled a "hallulla," a roundish bread popular in Spain at the time.
