Geißler or Geissler[edit]

Should the name of this page be Geißler or Geissler? Talamus 16:57, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think this should be moved to Heinrich Geissler, because the only way to access the page in the English Wikipedia is via a redirection page. And in the past there has been an effort to reduce redirects. —Mike 20:05, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mercury air pump[edit]

As I know Geißler invented the mercury air pump method that enabled the near vacuum inside those sealed glass tubes.

Those glass tubes foreshadowed many electrical inventions, like the Pulyui lamp that finally led to the discovery of X-rays.
