Autonomy of Greek Academia[edit]

I have to challenge the statement that the HOU "is a completely independent and autonomous LPPL", "[l]ike all other state universities in Greece". Any reasonable interpretation of "independence" and "autonomy" includes inter alia, the legal right to hire staff, to set tuition fees, to decide on intake numbers, to appoint their own rector and to draw their own charter and regulations. In practice, all or most of the above are decided by the Greek ministry of education or the Greek government, rather than the HOU. Therefore, I suggest that the phrase be stricken.

Name[edit]

I believe that the University describes itself as "Hellenic Open University", rather than "Open University of Greece". The former name is also a closer translation of the institutions official Greek name (Ελληνικό Ανοικτό Πανεπιστήμιο, rather than Ανοικτό Πανεπιστήμιο Ελλάδας). Wikipedia contribution to knowledge[edit]

Contributors to this article will be pleased to know that the information (and in fact entire blocks of text) in this article were extensively used in this interview of Dr Sifakis in ELT NEWS. Apparently, both the interviewer and the interviewee used sentences and even paragraphs from the article to formulate their questions and responses respectively, although they inadvertently (?) failed to attribute said quotations to Wikipedia, per GFDL.
