Untitled[edit]

Hendrik van de Hulst was also a mathematician of some note. Amongst other things, he described a generalized exponential integral, used also by the likes of Chandrasekhar and Vladimir Kourganoff. Hair Commodore 14:52, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Significant Paper by van de Hulst[edit]

The following paper, which I finally managed to track down gives a useful overview of van de Hulst's work on atmospheric scattering. It also has a great deal on the generalized exponential integrals which he did as much as anyone else to popularize. It is at:

"Sacttering in a Planetary Atmosphere" by H.C. Van de Hulst, in Astrophysical Journal,207, 107 - 220 (1948).

I hope that this is of some use. Hair Commodore (talk) 12:28, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
