Thomas Jermyns[edit]

I think I have solved the mystery of the Thomas Jermyns. There were three:

1) Sir Thomas (bapt. 1573, d. 1644/45), soldier and courtier, eldest son of Sir Robert Jermyn (1538/9-1614) of Rushbrooke, Suffolk; he was the father of Henry Jermyn, 1st Earl of St. Albans.

2) Thomas (d. 1659) of Rushbrooke, Suffolk, father of Henry Jermyn, third Baron Jermyn and Earl of Dover (bapt. 1636, d. 1708)

3) Thomas (1633-1703), nephew of the Earl of St. Albans.

These three are redlined with their dates in the Henry articles. --FeanorStar7 12:45, 12 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Same portrait used in two different biographies[edit]

The image File:Henry Jermyn.jpg is used in the lede of this article and for the lede image in the Henry Jermyn, 1st Baron Dover article. Two different people - one image. -- Gwillhickers (talk) 00:23, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Paternity of Charles II[edit]

Wasn't there a rumour that Jermyn was the true father of Charles II and/or James II? He was very close to Queen Henrietta Maria (as noted in the present article), and some people saw a resemblance between Jermyn and Charles II. For one thing, they were both tall, whereas Charles I, despite his ample royal diet, was notoriously short. Worth a mention in the article?2A00:23C8:7901:4B01:1913:313B:E2AA:D7C3 (talk) 16:30, 10 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
