damaged paragraph[edit]

hi, i deleted a damaged paragraph in "Third Parliament": can someone please find the rest of it and restore it? thx Coughinink 08:15, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted this: "Daniel Stanhope described him as "a key player in Australia's history. One whom we could not have done without" because I can't find any evidence apart from this article that Daniel Stanhope ever existed. If anyone can provide a source for this quote please put it back in.VirtualDave 07:31, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

Tone[edit]

The tone of language, particularly in the lead, reads like a eulogy. Descriptions of his "rugged facial features", "leonine hair", and "indomitable character" do not belong here, and should be removed, either to a well-sourced "reputation" section, or from the article entirely. Tone[edit]

Most of the content here has been copied from this page in Project Gutenberg here and it needs editing to fit with Wikipedia's tone. I would also argue that it's far too detailed - I removed one section that described the diet he ate while working in one of his jobs ("This ration consisted mainly of rice, flour and sugar, for the meat was sometimes unfit to eat"). Remember, a reader can very easily access this source if they want to find out more. I've already rewritten some of the paragraphs, but I would argue that even that information could be summarised even further. I attempted to rewrite the introduction to make it sound like an encyclopedia but another user reverted the edit without explanation.

I notice that this talk page isn't very active. Someone complained about the tone nearly two and a half years and no-one responded. If no-one replies to this within the next few days, I'll press ahead with further editing. 194.34.10.1 (talk) 10:32, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

His Politics?[edit]

He was a Radical in his times. But he was knighted. A tradie with little formal ed. A British imperialist? A proto-Laborite? What?--Jack Upland (talk) 18:50, 3 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality[edit]

The page has been edited to claim Parkes nationality was Australian. I have reverted them as no reliable source has been cited for an Australian nationality prior to 1901. --Find bruce (talk) 01:56, 20 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
